HOUSE RULES

Dear guest,
We are very happy that you are with us and we do everything to make you feel comfortable. We ask you to take note of our informations and house rules.

INFORMATION BY ALPHABET

Air conditioning:

We value the environment and health. Air conditioning  not only ensures cool air, but also poses health risks. They can spread germs, molds and microorganisms that are very harmful to health. Usually a simple cold is the result and also dry mucous membranes, sore throat and other problems.

Here on Samosir Island, the temperatures are 18/19° at night and 25 to 29° during the day. The weather only gets warmer a few days a year. We are convinced that an extremely environmentally harmful air conditioning system is not necessary and that a fan with our philosophy is more acceptable to us.
We consciously refrain from AC devices in the rooms, as these pollute the environment to a great extent! But some guests complain that we have fans and no air conditioners. As a hotel in Indonesia, it takes courage to consciously forego air conditioning. We do this because we care about the environment.

Bathroom:

We are an Indonesian hotel and in addition to international guests from all over the world, we accommodate Indonesian guests, therefore we have a traditional Indonesian wet bathroom with western toilet, rain shower and washbasin. This means that the floor is completely wet after showering. Indonesians like to splash while showering or washing their colothes on the floor. A totally wet bathroom and a flooded bathroom floor is normal in Indonesia. This is a part of the local culture and is normal in many Indonesian areas. Please understand, that an Indonesian bathroom is different to an European with a shower cabin. Thank you!

Breakfast:

Breakfast is complimentary and served from 7:00 – 10:00 am in the Lakeview Restaurant. Breakfast is free for our guests. If our hotel is well attended, you can help yourself at the breakfast buffet and otherwise there is a plate service.

Check-in/Check-out:

The check-in time is 2:00 pm and the check-out time is 12:00 am.  Depending on the situation, guests who have booked directly with us can check out later.

Christian island:

Please note that our island is traditionally Christian. If you have another religion, we ask you to respect our Batak culture. Although Indonesia is home to the most Muslims in the world, Islam is not the state religion in Indonesia. We ask for tolerance. All religions and cultures are welcome in our hotel!

Dress code:
We kindly ask you to visit our restaurant in decent clothing. It is forbidden to attend breakfast in bathing suits

Drinking water:

All our guests have the opportunity to refill their drinking water bottles for free.

Elevator: Please note that we don't have a lift. Experts advised us not to install an elevator in our hotel, because the nearest service point is in Medan, 5 hours drive one way from our hotel. The safety of our guests is our top priority. Our hotel is therefore only suitable for guests who can climb a few stairs and our staff will help to carry your luggage. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Food:

We ask that guests please enjoy any food on their private balcony. Cooking in the rooms is strictly forbidden.

The Toba Batak are majority Christian and not restricted to Islamic halal dietary law. Therefore many meals are made of pork but there are also halal dishes, mostly chicken and Toba lake fishes. The breakfast menu is halal.

Housekeeping:

We kindly ask you to hand in your room key at the reception if you want to have your room cleaned.

Towels are changed and rooms are cleaned upon request.

Pool towels:

Pool towels are provided at the restaurant.

Quiet hours:

We ask our guests to please keep sound levels to a minimum between the hours of 10:00 pm and 7:00 am.

Reception:

Our reception is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Room occupancy:

Maximum occupancy in the room is 2 adults and maximum 2 children under the age of 10.

Room keys:

Please leave your room keys at the reception desk when leaving the hotel. The charge for misplaced room keys is 200.000 IDR.

Smoking:

It is forbidden to smoke in the room. Guests are welcome to smoke on their private balcony, in the common areas of the hotel and in the restaurant. Thank you for your understanding.

Swimming pool:

Please take a shower prior to entering the swimming pool. Pool towels are provided at the restaurant.

Wifi:

We have our own wifi tower and prefer a private provider. We chose this very costly solution because we are not satisfied with the service provided by the government agency. Please keep in mind that Samosir has a power outage from time to time (this is usually not noticed because we have our own generator). Depending on the duration of this situation, our WLAN battery may be empty. So if we don't have WiFi, it is not up to us, but to the state electricity supplier PLN.

Don't hesitate to speak to our manager named Boy Samosir if something is wrong
or if you have any special requests or questions. We wish that you leave us as a friend.

Enjoy your time with us at Zoé's Paradise Waterfront Hotel!
